Jim Basile - Writer/MC: As the Dean of Atlanta Traffic Reporters, Emmy Award winning, Jim Basile has been a personality Atlantans have known on Radio (V-103 and 96 Rock) and Television (11-Alive and Fox 5) for over 30 years. During that time, Jim has also been a freelance musician who has played with a number of local Atlanta bands. Probably the most memorable of those bands was Christopher Rude’s ground breaking band ‘Pale White Sausage’ that opened for many Atlanta concerts while Jim was a member of Rude’s legendary radio “Wake-Up Crew” on "96 Rock."
A graduate of the North Texas State (now University of North Texas) Lab Band Program, Jim was encouraged by Atlanta Big Band leader, Joe Gransden, to try his hand at ‘writing something’ for Gransden’s band. That led to a number of pieces now in the Gransden book. Jim is now delighted to contribute his adventurous writing style to the 3rd Stream Big Band, with new and exciting material being written often. As Basile has said, ”Just think of us as a Big 17-piece Rock Band...that plays Jazz equally well!.
